Yet another photograph from my recent trip to the Outer Banks. I photographed this old general store last year, and returned this year as well. I didn't run into the owners this time and took more time using a tripod to really study.
Brian: did you happen to go up and look in the store window? I met the lady who owns this place last year and she said that if she was not busy preparing for some guests she would have let me in. After I took some pictures I looked in the window and just started aching. It looked like they shut the doors in about 1963 and left everything the same.

Dan, no I didn't take a peak in. I talked to the old man last year and he said they closed up about 15 years ago. I'm pretty sure he lost track of time. You can tell, like you did that this place has been closed longer than that. It would be neat to photograph the interior!
This is a wonderful image. No wonder other photographers are drawn to this place, which is reeking with history and emotion. It would be hard to imagine a better treatment than yours!
