I've been inspired by the work of Jackson Pollock lately. 2 trips to see the local museum's new canvas this week. I guess this is my mini, black and white photographic version.... =)
Thanks to Rich for the film and Thomas for the paper!
check out some of michael smith and paula chamlee's work they have some very similar work. I took there work shop and it is one of the best you will ever take, in fact I took it twice and learned more the second time.
Shawn, this is great stuff, and a real change-up pitch compared to some of your earlier posts. I've come back to it several times, and keeps getting more interesting. Thanks!
The can itself was actually quite colorful which helped me gain the contrast I needed with nice, soft, even light. The scratches were too small to meter so I found mat samples that matched the 3 colors (gray, blue, yellow) - held them in front of the can and metered those (I work in a frame shop =).
