Handsome shot, at the appropriate angle and focal length. Here is 'normal' at its intended perspective. You say that you can't 'do' mid-tones, but I see no problem here.

Can I ask you a rather 'stupid' question which I do not know the answer of? I make optical prints. But, when you scan a negative, how do you reverse the tones so that a positive emerges? (Probably the only one who does not know the answer to this.) Anything I 'scan' I simply photograph with a Digital camera. THAT is my 'scan' for posting photos online. - David Lyga

Agree with David - very nice tones. Really shows the quality of work on the car. Agree that there are no tennis balls on the intakes. Sure not the old 6 cyl. it came with! Also, David, at least with Photoshop Elements, use Filter-Adjustments-Invert to convert from negative to positive.

Thank you. bsdunek, but I use Temple University guest computers and one cannot download programs. For simple editing, I use either paint or befunky.com. - David Lyga

Gents, thank you. I was rather stunned by the car - not for outrageous shine, etc., but how clean & simple was made so beautiful.
'Fair to say the motor was not from the factory.
David - on reversing a negative, photoshop does it, but the scanner (cheap old V600 epson) does it as a function of telling it you're scanning a negative. I appreciate your taking a look & talking about it. Most other shots, I had to use at least an 8mm ext. tube to get detail, but the pie-shaped hood made the normal distance/perspective a good choice. I spent a good part of the day remembering your kind help on being deliberate on DOF.

Excellent!! :D

Gene, thank you. 'Thought about your shot of the flathead w/ the Jimmy on top when I spoke w/ a local in a 40's Ford flathead truck. 'Saw the chromed heads & asked: isn't it illegal to have a flathead that clean? He smiled & said the heads were new or they wouldn't be clean.

HiHo, i hate to say it but the subject is the shining jewel of this photograph (but yes, the perspective and exposure rather lovely as well)! So glad you used the Hassy for this.
I imagine the owner would love to have a nicely done fine print of this jewel. Gorgeous.

Michael & Trail, thank you. Michael, since finding a decent recipe for Pan F (Thank You, Eric Rose!), I'm glad I got it w/ that film also. The detail in other shots is wonderful. Yes, the subject composes itself. I fortunately didn't foul it up.

Trail, I instantly thought Hilborn also (for yrs off a side street from Crown Valley Pkway near I-5 in Laguna Niguel), but a brief look was another name I didn't recognize.
