Frozen River

These can be exceedingly difficult shots to get just right because of the range of tones, between the near black of the water and the white of the snow. Your camera meter insists on trying to bring everything in the frame to a middle grey. I try to overexpose by one or two stops to compensate for this. It's nice to see you posting

Thanks for the advice! I am really a newbie at this. I love that I can tell my camera what to do (have been fully auto for way too long!).

Lovely composition and a wonderful place. On my screen the snow seems a bit gray, have you consider printing it with a higher contrast?

Thanks. It was printed at the Costco 1 hour but I will make a note of that as I will have the darkroom set up soon!
