Nice shot of a cool little guy.
Not too familiar with north-american snakes, but look likes a gopher snake ?
 
Yes it is. I think a lot of folks in Colorado also call them Bull Snakes. This guy was little. I rescued a large adult out of a window well once. They will mimic being a Rattle Snake when intimidated.
