French guard

From the Festival du Voyageur, a fantastic winter festival here that actually convinced me winter is fun. This is a historical re-enactor, what a French soldier guarding valuable fur trading camps and settlements would have looked like around 1835 or so, around here.

Excellent use of f 1.2

Especially like the soldier (or painting?) in the background.

Was this formally posed/lit?

@jtk Thanks - it was by the light of a window, I don't know maybe 150 year old glass lets in light differently than newer windows?

I was chatting with the guy and asked if I could get a quick portrait - the comrade in the back was a happy accident.

Great use of shallow DOF and of available light ! A powerful "movie-esque" picture !
