Fortress

This is my first attempt on creating a sepia toned image, and the first picture I upload on APUG after subscribing. The picture was created using my Tachihara 4x5 camera on Kodak 320 TXP.
It is a picture from the fortress "Fort Vechten". Fort Vechten is part of a defensive line of some 30 fortresses build between about 1840 up to 1890, that was supposed to protect the western part of the Netherlands from foreign invasion. It used a unique defensive approach, using the fortresses in combination with careful controlled flooding of the polders surrounding them, making passage of armies impossible. The "Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie" now runs for inclusion on the World Heritage List of the UN.

I love this! You did a great job with your sepia toning. You have wonderful light here and great shadow detail. Hope to see you post more images!

Hi Jeanette and Mike,

Yes, I definitely intend to upload more images to APUG. For the time being, you can visit my personal homepage at http://www.boeringa.demon.nl

But TXP is only suitable for studio use! It has an impossibly upswept curve! Your highlights will be washed out! Soot and chalk! It doesn't work in the field! I've even read it on APUG.

(Which is to say...glad to see another TXP user here).

ditto what Dave said above,

also what a nice place and light to shoot in...hope to see more of this...thanks
