Very nice. I have been there several times, but can't picture were you took this shot from. I have a few shots of the place myself. It is indeed, a great place to photgraph.

Love it!

Having a son live in the Bay Area gives us an excuse to get there every year or so. So I think I'm going to have to add Ft. Point to the schedule for our next visit. Just have to remember to check when it's open - I think it's closed on weekdays. But the way to finesse that is plan the tasting trip to Napa Valley for the days that Ft. Point is closed.

Did you encounter any resistance to the big camera in Ft. Point? I was told that I couldn't take my 4x5 into Ft. Ticonderoga a few years ago. Actually, what they objected to was the tripod. Later I visited Ft. Knox in Maine, and just to be safe, I contacted them in advance to make sure that I could get in.

Thanks for the comments. I took this shot on the second floor in one of the far corners of the fort. The place is open fri-sat-sun from (I think) 10 to 5. I went on a friday on the assumption there would be fewer people around. I did get questioned by a ranger when I came in with a tripod over my shoulder and dragging a suitcase. She asked what I was taking pictures for, I smiled and said "for myself, not for a commercial job". She looked at me a little sideways, shrugged, and I walked in. I was there with a friend who was also carrying a tripod, but he didn't get questioned. I suppose if you came across a hard-ass ranger, they could prevent you from doing your thing. I plan to return and do some more work there. I'll also be posting some more images from this shoot.

Very nice. Can I borrow your neg?

I was there 8/26/05, a Friday too. No questions or looks except from a couple from Atlanta that was so excited when I let them look through the camera. I got there at the lunch hour, but after the workmen overhead on the GG bridge got started on the grinding, I had to leave. Needed earplugs. It was too loud for peaceful work. Wish, too, that I had had a large flashlight for focusing and composition.

every time I've seen this image I marvel at the potential of a great palladium print...
