Fork Cropping

Fork Cropping

So I was shooting an image to display as part of a weekly challenge.

I ended up realizing after that I liked the "macro" crop version better than the full fork.

So, I cheated a lot, and cropped this, I just think it's interesting.

The original image was about 3/4 the entire fork, to give you an idea of the scale pre-crop.

Agree with Eddie. That's not cheating. That's very striking. And clean. It's also one of those rare uploads that I think looks better in full than in thumbnail. And it look great in thumbnail.

Nice work, Stone. I like how the bow of the fork balances the bow of the shape in the background. That is what really makes this frame work in my opinion.

This is nice Stone. I think I would like it more with the ends of the tines cropped off to make it more abstract (changing the title of course!). But it's great as it is.

Really nice. How much did you have to adjust teh exposure for bellows extension?

Thanks guys,If you're a member of the photography-forum.org place, this was this weeks "weekly assignment" so you can see the entire image there.I tried to place the fork to balance the shape of the original frame and in keeping in general with the Fibonacci spiral, and then adjusted for artistic composition and such, so the end of the fork matches the shape of what it's sitting on. It was shot at an angle so that the focus wasn't smack in the center of the fork, but gave a slight transition as the line followed the fork tongs up as they curved, I was very happy with the image.I was saying it was cheating because I didn't pre-visualize the crop, even if I pre-visualized the depth on the fork tong.I think it would be interesting as an abstract also.I believe the pre-bellows adjustment exposure would have been 1/30 and the compensation brought it to 1/8.

Ooh.... I just did that. I agree. It looks like a planet with metal rings!
