Forest Rhythms

4x5 silver contact print

I love walking in the forest but have found it quite difficult to photograph, this is among my better results thus far...

I agree that the forest is quite difficult, though you've done a fine job here...it's a nice and graphic design. I wonder if you've considered toning lightly in thiocarbamide and then selenium to warm it up a bit (as opposed to bust out sepia which I think is too much). It's helped my attempts at similar subjects I think. Anyway, well done, Shawn.

I live the "sticks" and it is difficult for me to do right... you got this one quite well ...

Thanks fellows.

john, to me it feels almost like the small trees and smattering of leaves are dancing their way across the image - at least that's what I felt when I was there and part of what I hoped to convey.

John, the print is probably a bit warmer than the scan but I hear you. Really makes sense given the subject matter. I'm not quite ready to start learning the ins and outs of another toner but that's on my list. Either thiocarbamide, brown toner or a platinum toner I've heard about. So much yet to learn....

wonderful Shawn.
I've also been recently enamoured with the "rhythms" in forests.

well done.

Thanks, Matt. I'm planning on continuing these images as the leave start to appear and complicate things even more. Looking forward to see your interpretations. All the best. Shawn
