Forest Dogwood

I can't get through the spring without looking for a dogwood tree blooming in the forest somewhere where I can photograph it. This year I found several in an easy to access location, and stopped on the way home from work on Friday to make some photographs. The truth is that I've admired this subject as rendered by Eliot Porter, and Christopher Burkett for as long as I can remember, and I keep trying to make something I like as well in monochrome. I hope I have many, many more springs to keep trying ;-)

I love the way you often bring subtle high values out of textured middle tones with an anchor in black somewhere. Even your anchors are delicate!

Thank you guys for your comments. Steve, that's an interesting analysis. Among some of the composers I know, analysis of their work often amazes them since they don't actually think in the way theorists do when they're writing their music. Although I certainly do "think" when I'm making a photograph, it's not necessarily in the way a viewer does when seeing the print. Thanks, again.
