Footbridge in Zinc, Arkansas

THE ZINC FOOTBRIDGE, BUILT IN ABOUT 1927.   Chatted with some locals swimming in the creek. According to them, this bridge was built for a blind lady who lived on the hill (west side) to be able to cross the creek to get to the general store she operated about a block away (east) from the bridge. Next to this bridge is a low-water culvert-type bridge for vehicular traffic, and according to the locals, that is all there ever was there for vehicles. The current low water bridge is about 4 years old, replacing an older one that was washed away in high water.
