I tested some Fomatone MG Classic papers this week. I have been looking for a paper to replace Ektalure and this one looks pretty versatile to me. It tones well in a variety of toners and the Natural surface should be great for hand-coloring. I also like the cream base of the paper and the fact that it dried very flat.
All the prints were split-filter printed at the same settings and developed in Silvergrain Tektol Standard developer (diluted 1+ 14) for 150 seconds.
The toning treatments were:
1st row: no toner; selenium (1+6) 30 sec; selenium (1+6) 120 sec
2nd row:thiourea-sepia (50/10/440) 30 sec bleach; thiourea-sepia (10/50/440) 30 sec bleach; thiourea-sepia (10/50/440) 300 sec bleach
3rd row:thiourea-gold 300 sec; thiourea-sepia (10/50/440) 30 sec bleach then thiourea-gold 300 sec; selenium (1+6) 120 sec then thiourea-gold 600 sec [my favorite]
4th row: thiourea-gold 120 sec then selenium (1+6) 120 sec; thiourea-gold 300 sec then selenium (1+6) 120 sec
I like the purple shadows/blue highlight split I got using selenium toner (1+6) for 2 minutes followed by the gold toner for 10 minutes.
Edit: I had one of the sepia formulas reversed above but have corrected the error.
