The Dr.I (triplane) was famous as the aircraft in which Manfred von Richthofen gained his last 19 victories, and in which he was killed on 21 April 1918.
These were a very distinct aircraft. I would have taken in the whole thing, but, this is a very nice crop. My Wife says I always try to get everything in instead of concentrating on details.
You're right, tri-wing Fokkers are unique. This one was jammed in way too tightly and my grouch trigger got activated as I crawled around looking for a clean shot. Not possible. Grrrr.
@Reinhold I admire your body of work.. lots of elegant photos. I do hope you sometimes assemble them in groups...multiple perspectives along with your useful comments. I think the Fokker especially calls for that. Perhaps you sometimes assemble photos that way somewhere other than on Photrio?
All: Thanks for you kind words.
I'm in the process of redacting the mountain of negatives I made over the past 60+ years.
I've printed lots of them to 8x10 and filed them in gallery "books".
Lately, I've been using Flickr to create more focused "albums", a work still in progress.
