First Paper Negative

I'm excited at not only my first chance to use my refurbished 8x10, but also about my first stab at paper negative processing and
contact printing. Taken with a Seneca/National 8x10 with Betax No.4 Wollensak Shutter, Kodak Polycontrast III RC Semi-Matt paper rated at ASA 4, f11, 35 seconds, developed Dektol 1:2. Contact printed on Ilford Multigrade RC Glossy paper. This
is a great alternative process to using film and I have thousands of sheets of paper to play with, so let the games
begin.

that is an awesome result for paper, the contrast is superb, did you account for reciprocity?
I did not, in researching there is apparently little or no reciprocity involved in paper negatives (someone correct me if I'm wrong). As a ball park figure I started out using ASA 4, which seems to work OK with this paper. Simple exposure reading and bellows factoring. And while I'm sure results will vary from negative to negative, it's still a hoot to use.

Nicely done. There is a really appealing simplicity with paper negatives. It takes some time to get used to the missing red tones. I call that the black hole of red blindness. A lot of folks advocate pre or post flashing to help control contrast. Keep it up.

Thanks for the comments all, it's a lot of fun!

Looks great, and a timely post as I'm about to try this with an old Victor Falling Plate camera that someone loaned me. Much easier to load this beast with a safelight on!

Thanks Tony, it is a lot of fun, and did I mention inexpensive. Looking around for all of the expired papers I can find.
