The photo is amazing to me, the image contains much information that is hard for me to digest. The high water mark on the walls, the mud cracking and curling on the floor.
A total feeling of hopelessnes is portrayed in this image. I have trouble understanding
such destruction having never been exposed to it. My heart goes out to those that once lived in this room and warmed themselves in front of the fire place. Like any photograph ever made, it could have been done differently. However what was done in making this image is quite all right with me. The so called "blown out" spots could be tamed down a bit, but I am not sure in my own mind it is totally necessary. I like the image, and must say it knocks my sox off! I believe this image moved me a great deal more that any thing I've seen of this act of nature.
Thanks for posting!!

Very powerful. It touches me down to my soul. The blown out part gives me a feeling of spontanious hope against despair...it's distractiveness is a paradox against the darkness of the moment even with the light on the fireplace. To me it all says "we will overcome".
