Fayette Michigan 2

Fayette Michigan is often labeled as a "ghost town," but it's more like a living museum. This abandonded blast furnace is located incongruously on a highly picturesqe bay in a small peninsula on the northern side of Lake Michigan. I find the contrast between the blazing inferno that this place used to be, and the serene scene that it is today, irresistible.

A blast furnace??... Here in the middle of the water? That's an intriguing story... what was this furnace used for?

I love those historical details and facts too, really gives one a new perspective and appreciation of neighborhoods and area's we're living in.

I think it was a pig-iron furnace there.
