I feel that this could be made a much stronger image by cropping on both sides-almost to a square. I would remove all of the light area on the right and the area on the left containing the distracting light spots. The face being the most important element, I would maintain as much detail there as possible, dodging the "black eye" to reveal at least some detail. I find that dodging the eyes (when they are really dark) makes for better portraits.
