This one was a challenge. I was pushing myself, actually.
This is wide open with the Mamiya, hand held, at 1/4 second. Using the prism finder.
I really like this camera. I like square. I like the way it makes me see. It's different than I'm used to, I think that this is the way I look at the world. It almost feels like I've come home. I think that this is the start of a beautiful relationship.
great start with the C3 Stephanie, and great shot of your closest family. The C3 is a reliable system. Thinking in square truly is quite liberating compositionally and I think you will absolutely have fun with it. Once you get your enlarger, I think you will have even more fun!!
I agree with Andrew ... I have a used C330 system pretty worn but functional (except the occasional film advance slip ups) that's fun to use ... looking forward to seeing your efforts with your C3 ...
Nice (1/4s shutter speed is nuts - you must not drink that much coffee ). I'm having fun with my C330 with 135mm lens - I find it's just right for me with people shots (80mm I find somewhat too wide, and 180mm is too tight for my liking).
So far I've just been using it with the WLF, but I'm contemplating getting a prism for completeness (and so I can take perspective-correct shots of people standing up ). Do find the image any dimmer with the prism vs. the WLF?
It's dimmer, but not really prohibitively so. I think that if I was shooting in dimmer light than that I'd go for the waist level. I think that shot was lit by the lights on that side of the kitchen. I have a long florescent above the sink, an incandescent bulb in a fan about 5 or so feet and high, and another round florescent light behind them, high, about 3 feet away. I'm guessing I had a total of 180 watts.
As to my hands, one thing I've found is that I hold heavier cameras steadier than light ones. It's why the cheap digithingies never really appealed to me. I like the feel of brass and aluminum and steel.
I haven't jumped on that whole silicone baking pans thing either. I can't imagine wanting a flimsy muffin pan.
