Taking photos in a wood while the sun was shining and yet it was raining I came across this uprooted tree. The top of the root reminded me of drawings I seen of Norse gods and I had to start shooting. All my shots were hand held as I felt I was in the moment.
Very hard subject , you have done a wonderful job holding it all together , having those trees in the background straight and narrow adds a great deal , the root itself almost feels secondary ...
I love this image. Something about the forest always speaks to me. Anyway, I wonder if this is Yggdrasil, the Tree of the World, which shudders and falls in The Ragnarokk, you know, when the sun turns black and all the dead Vikings sail a sea of blood in ships made of fingernails, Odin gets swallowed by the wolf, etc...kind of like now, but without the 24hr news cycle
