I am working on my still life. I know that I have gone out of frame at the top left but other than that does anyone have any comments to help me ?

Thanks CJB

All is falling to the left and it is in this case an outpoint!
And up in the right corner there is a dark background and tells me you should also work on your framing a picture!
The message did a get anyway, thats a good point!
Hope it helps, Armin Seeholzer

Someone asked for my opinion? Riiiiiight!....

I wonder if placing the objects on a kitchen table with the rest of the kitchen out of focus in the background might work better to provide a more natural environment for these objects. The very high viewpoint results in considerable distortion of the shapes and all the objects look like they are about to slide off the bottom of the print: keeping at least the main subjects vertical would help avoid that impression - to see what I mean, try rotating the print by about 25 degrees.

Also, don't be afraid to let things be partially hidden behind other objects: spacing them out looks too staged. The light is highly directional, casting strong shadows, it might be worth seeing what it looks like by using light from a nearby window to give a more diffused light.

Of course, the fact that I rarely do any still-lifes myself does not exactly make me the world's greatest expert on the subject...

Have fun, Bob.

Thanks both. Bob - the only time to get really worried is when your wife/partner asks your opinion -dangerous territory.
I see what you mean about sliding off the bottom .

So I'm not sure what the image is trying to state here. I see the poster's title, I see the coffee accessories, I can't read the title of the book on my work monitor right now, so is the image suppose to send a message? If so, I'm sure it's poignant enough - not enough wow factor me.

I assume you tried to make this image 'au reportage' and again, I am not sure it works either. I do like the placements and the strong shadows. I do like the off balance of the composition (don't mind it sliding off the bottom), but I'm just not sure the objects themselves tie strongly to the message you are trying to deliver.
