2 of Brentwood's homeless 'Characters' -- usually DRUNK but today they actually were drinking COFFEE and complaining that Brentwood Borough Council has taken their bedding. They wanted their Picture on the 'Front Page' but I told them all local freelance photographers have gone broke , no payment!
Such is the bloke scene in certain parts ... of Essex and elsewhere near London. This 'scene' captures their personalities and states something about an overriding resignation about 'their lot'. Sometimes this 'lot' is due to unfortunate decisions, other times there are less mitigating factors which point to societal flaws. The choice of telephoto did compact the situation a bit too much: it seemed to distance yourself from this reality. Both the resounding clarity and accurate colour indicate excellent technical work. Fleshtones are superb.
Also here in Philadelphia, bedding is often confiscated, without compensation. It is an 'image thing', with cities desperate to portray their respective venues as whole, so that tourists (also 'legitimate' habitants) will not be miffed. (Of course, Philadelphia is not going to be 'whole' any time soon.)
