Indeed a work that strikes me as apropos for our current times.
The faded colors work perfectly, as do the imperfections inherent to the process of transfering, to convey a thought and mood.
A wonderful work DM.

I think the only thing that I'd like to see is either more work along these lines, which would bolster the particular aesthetics of the format, or simply more of the scene, to help me place this whithin some context, as it is, it does strike me as a "simple" work, one that I can look at and go "OK - got it", and then want to moove on.. does that make sence?.. . .

More work along these lines would expand the Idea, while just having more of the scene would expand the information available in this single piece.. either way, "more" would strengthen this work.

I guess that what I'm getting at is that as is, the piece is very iconic. That is nice, as Icons are immediately readable, but that immediacy of the message also wears off pretty fast b/c it is so concise.

Man, I hope I was able to put the point where it belongs... it's a pretty fine line, and has less to do with the tech of a single unit, than it has to do with holding the interest of the viewer . . . and presenting enough material for thought.

This is actually one of the first Pol trannies I did. It was supposed to be just a test shot to test the capabilities of the technique. I've always thought about doing more work to compliment this, possibly even print the same image in a triptych format, having the flag degenerate(less water, less time), from left to right. The only problem with that is the capricious nature of the transfer process. I might just have to sit down and figure it out. I was also thinking about trying a series about modern times using the pola transfers.

This particular work holds a much deeper significance for me in that I had taken another shot from the "front" side because it had a really interesting texture from being on my grandfather's fence for awhile. The week that I took this he went into the hospital, and I gave him that print to hang on his wall(these were intially taken w. Ekta 100), which he said reminded him of home. It represents to me what America has degenerated into over the course of his life, and the generation gap in between us. He's a WWII vet and extremely patriotic. I don't think I've ever known what it's like to be truly proud of my country.
