Faces in the Crowd. Vietnam Peace Rally-Washington 1969

The policeman was about to clash with protesters at the Justice Department. Although some see him as threatening, I always felt that he was anxious and perhaps as confused as the rest of us.

Scanned from a work print, the original enlarges nicely to 11 X 14, If I can find the damn negative, I'll print it again.

When the protest became violent, I sought safer ground. I wasn't about to ruin my precious Canon. I left Washington with hope, some of my favorite images and more questions than answers.

His expression really doesn't give the impression that he is anxious to mix it up. I agree he looks anxious, his jaw looks clenched. Very expressive print.
