Experience Music Project - Winner yay! - MSA: January/February 2013 "Unusual Shapes"

The Experience Music Project is in Seattle, Washington, you either love it or hate it, if you fly in you can certainly find it from the air as you're looking down, it can't be missed it is a gaudy multi colored unusually shaped building, an homage to music and as unique a building as they come.

This image was taken during my December 2010 trip around the country shooting only on Kodachrome and finally delivering on the last day. You are the first to see this image as it's never been published anywhere until now :) Congrats!

Very interesting building, and your composition is great. As an art center, it's fine. Wasn't there when I worked for Boeing back in the 60's.

Thanks, I feel that I could have had a better composition, I have 2800 slides from the trip and this was the pulled "favorite" and I didn't have the energy to search through them for other images to scan in etc. I think I had some close ups of the roof but I felt this got the message through

Count me in as one who hates it, (the buildings, not your image, which fine and appropriate for this topic). But really, what were they thinking? It looks like the overflow from a clothing collection bin!BTW Your photo is every bit as good as the one on this site: 80+ Strange and Fantastic Buildings Architecture !

Thanks, I tried looking it up, the search didn't give any good results, but thanks for the compliment . I hate it too, except the purple wall, I like just that part of it haha

Perfect! Lost in the scale, swirl and stationary-metallic-movement (oxymoron)!

As artists we constantly Chang and strive for improvement and perfection, for me if I had framed (had rotated on horizon axis) just a bit more right to see the end of the light blue, it would have been better, alas this is the image and I have come so far from then... But this is what revived me, brought me back to film and solidified me as a photographer, made me feel there was worth in my endeavor... Kodachrome seems to have that, perhaps it's something about the not being able to process yourself, the limitation causing travel and experience and driving for perfection in each shot because that's all the control you had... *nostalgic*

Wow! That is indeed very unusual! I wonder what the acoustics are like inside? Great shot, thanks for sharing it.

They were closed when I was there so I wasn't able to go inside so I'm not sure, probably very good
