My daughter posed for me this morning... The lens is very fast and very prone to flare. I will have to find a way to darken the inside of the lens barrel. This was about 7:30am in overcast light and I was still needing to use the packard shutter in instant mode 1/15th @ f2!! This collodion is VERY fast.
Thanks Marek. It's Quinn's 'quick clear'.. I have noticed that this recipe does seem to be a little bit flat sometimes. Not sure why that is. Could be my lenses?? The small darlot is best in that regard as it is just a bit more contrasty. That said, I wa snot shooting into the light, and it was not that bright out. So I am not sure why this lacks some contrast. At any rate, I hear that recipes using potassium iodide and potassium bromide may have more tonal range, albeit they take much more time to clear and also have some precipitate throw down that needs decanting off. I might try 'old workhorse' to see how that goes.
Thanks Eddie.... So with this f2 lens... I'm getting super fast exposure, and need the packard to slow things down. Yesterday I had to resort to an ND-8 filter!!!
