This is an analogue conversion to b&w. Starting with Astia 100F, a b&w neg was made on 5x7 tmax 100 (ID11, 1+0).

This is a test contact print lf the b&w neg on RC. The fiber version, which is a touch less hot and contrasty, is drying and will be toned.

The 35mm slide has a bit of edge softness; my old and unhooded OM1 lens was shot wide open in fairly contrasty light, and handheld at a bit too slow of a shutter speed to get good sharpness. On top of all that my shot was a bit overexposed. Oh well.

Nevertheless, I thought it might work in b&w, with the edge blur and highlight hotness perhaps evoking halation. What say you.

I don't think the hot highlights are disturbing. His face is well lit.

I remember the original slide, actually. I like this better, but I'm a softie and like soft focus. Well done!

Thanks Thomas and jmal, glad it works for you! I was hoping that the softness and glow would work a bit more 'dreamily' in b&w than it did in the colour version.

For reference, here is the original colour slide:

I like the color version too, but the BW does have a dreamier feel.

love it.
the light and how it shines or reflects off the boy is really neat.

I think if you could darken down the hi light at his feet the glow emanating from him assumes an infrared quality which I think would be quite attractive.

Cheers
