Nice work there Matt...funny, the wavy lines don't really bother me, but know what you mean. Scanners can be such a pain. Make sure that you do not have any type of "auto" correction turned on and that is what is fooling the scanner.
The wavey problem you are having is called moire. Two quick things that might fix it, rescan with the image at a different angle on the scanner bed and/or scan at a higher resolution and use your imaging software to correct either/both.
Well I'm just going to let you all know that I own this print and that Matt Miller is one of the greats on APUG. Bar none!! Anyone out there who wants to see what great photography is all about should buy a print from Matt!! The computer screen is just lifeless compared to the original!!
Great abstract from a pretty common subject. The row of rivets or bolts on the right side bin are the perfect level in the print to draw your eye in. the row leading down to it breaks up the right bin that would otherwise over weight the print. I also like how the lines on the right bin have a very exagerated convergence, contrasted to the near perfect parallel lines on the left bin.
If the print quality is anything like Peter describes, in combination with this incredibly creative photograph, then this is a wonderful work of art. It's great even without being a perfectly executed print. Well done!
