Enjoying the Morning

I went to New Orleans for a few days in January and am just now getting a chance to print some of the pictures. This is a man I photographed on the street. This is the first street shot I've ever taken. Beyond that, have no connection with the person, it was really just a quick snapshot.

Thanks to a fellow APUG member, this is also my first time ever using Fiber-based paper.

I might go back and reprint this image with more contrast. I didn't want to lose the detail in the upper left corner, but the rest of the shot really needs more punch.

When the weather is a little warmer out, I will also try sepia toning, again, thanks to a fellow member!

I would likely appreciate the image more if a connection between the photographer and the subject was present, rather than just the photographer as an anonymous observer. Seeing "street people" as "bums" will affect one's images.

i sometimes sit on the curb, have a coffee and a snack, and i am not a street person/ bum ..
i would have liked the photograph more if you had a conversation with your subject
and got to know him/her, and if it was someone who was homeless, maybe bought him/her
food or coffee ( dunkin donuts gift card ? ) ... and maybe took a portrait of him / her ...

I appreciate the feedback. I suppose it was unfair to see this person as just a bum. That is an assumption I shouldn't have made. Still, I have no connection to the person, didn't have a chance to see who he was or learn more about him. I'll look at this a little differently next time.
