This was an iconic 'plane for me when I was younger. The last British built fighter it was basically a small cockpit and small gun/missiles strapped onto two gurt big jet engines.
I remember one climbing like this at an Air Show .
People I knew who were in the RAF loved it but it drank fuel like it was going out of fashion and had pretty dire avionics, the airborne equivalent of a fast but uncomfortable sports car - well it was a British design ! :-)
Nice shot. Was this a photographer who set this up like this making it easier to capture its spirit? He/she was know how to convey what the Lightning was all about.
Must try to get there someday. Unforunately these places make the wife cry. I took her to the doctor and he diagnosed acute boredom!
