I can't decide which I like better. This or the one with her smiling. While she is beautiful and is a very sweet soul, she also has this 'quiet' about her that I think is reflected better here.
What do you think, as an objective outsider, not knowing her personally? I'd be interested in your opinion. Thanks!
I prefer this one because the eyes are more open and less shaded, and she seems to be looking more directly and intensely at the viewer. Both are very nice.
I prefer this one. It's more engaging; The other one is real nice too, but has the school picture grin. I like the quiet thoughtful photos perhaps because it's more of a challenge than a smile. Since you're interested in opinion, I think the background is somewhat distracting, but the light and tones and excellent as you usually manage.
Thanks for the feedback.
andrew.roos, I do agree with you that I feel more connected with this one than the one with a smile.
jp498, thanks for offering so much thought. I usually end up printing these 9x12", so the crop will be different when I do, which will eliminate some of that background. It's interesting how some people like diffuse and out of focus background like that, and others are of the opposite opinion. Thanks for pointing it out.
I like the serious one better, but there is a hint of smile or humor in this expression anyway. And yes, I also think the background takes away from the result.
