Suzanne, I appreciate your comments as I think the children's portraits on your website are wonderful. I found this old empty home during one of my back road photo tours in 1992. I returned with my daughter, her doll and the flag. I asked her to pretend she lived there many years ago and she was meeting a stranger. She did the rest. We also took some smiling shots that day but this one seemed to fit the mood of the place and evoked the feeling I was trying to create of a shy little girl clinging to her doll in front of her old farmhouse.

Very good portrait. When she has grown up, she should have good memories of the way you both worked to get this picture.
