@Bill:
This one wasn't that hard. I'm a big fan on Jock Sturges and I read somewhere that he usually (eventhough he doesn't use a meter) expose the Tri-X 320 to 100 and underdevelop the negativ in HC-110.
Myself I use a spot meter and always meters the skin-tones and place them in zon Vi, but I have set my meter to 200 instead of 320, so my blackness will be a bit lighter than it should be. Then I normal develop (at least in this one). This will make sure that I have good coverage in the dark areas, but the light areas will be a bit whiter too.
I mainly do the dark areas in the image and dodge or burn (I have never learned which is which) the light areas. You may see that they lack a bit in contrast (which will happend since less light hits that spot).
Then I feel that a good image is not just develop-technique, but you have to have good models and I'm very thankful for my models.
