yeah but it doesn't hold anything and it doesn't "rest" on anything - it would be ok if I had the other hand (that's underneath this one) in the frame... anyway, it's just a photo - got another session scheduled with Elise soon enough - will pay more attention to detail next time.
You might try holding the camera in the portrait position instead of landscape that would give you a central orientation on your subject and brings more of her into the frame and less background.
This a great shot, why all the nit picking? Straight forward, unpretentious. I dodn't even notice the hand before I started reading. The look on her face,, she's not just pretty, she's alive.
