Interesting tonal range Peter. Did you use a camera lens filter? Shooting kinda high, like from a platform?

Hi Keith. You have a good eye ! This was taken from the roof of a Land Rover, over the hedge of very large Agave americana. This area lies at ca. 4,000 m aboce sea level, near the tree line. Its either cloudy or raining, and always windy. The largest trees barely reach 3 m. I might have used a light green filter, that I used on a previous photo...

This is just beautiful, Peter! And that glowing light again, the tones, everything just seems so unreal and so real at the same time. What a beautiful country.

Thanks Michael ! The country is beautiful. I just wish it were safer, especially this area close to the Mexican border. These forests at the upper limit of vegetation are always fascinating. From Bristlecone pines in California, through Elfin forests in Central America, down to the Espeletia plains here in the south, these islands from the glacial periods are some of the most bizarre ecosystems you can imagine.
