El Capitan, Afternoon Sun

El Capitan, Afternoon Sun

I shot this in the afternoon, and only bothered to shoot (waste was the word I was thinking at the time) one sheet because I was sure I woulndn't be able to pull detail with such a range of contrast. It turned out to be my favorite shot of the trip.

I think the scanner failed you on this one, no detail in the shadows. Those highlights on the mountain show, just barely, I'm thinking the print is probably pretty good with good tonal response on both ends of the scale. Am I right?
Looks like the setting sun is hitting it full face, like a full moon.

You are right, my scanner has a thing about highlights and shadows, shadows in perticular, it hates hates them.

But I would say you did very well to get THIS MUCH detail. Not bad at all.
