Went to Cornwall and visited the 'Eden Project' saw the black sky to the North and thought " Some-one is getting some RAIN" then had message from fellow member of Brentwood Photographic Club we were due to meet in BOSCASTLE -- she had nearly been killed in the FLOODS -- lost car and Nikon gear
I had forgotten how blue the domes can look and it is easy to forget how localised "bad weather" can be and how even more localised its serious consequences can be.
Luckily that year we were staying in Golant Youth Hostel in the dry, but were intending to meet up in Boscastle and stay in Boscastle Youth Hostel down by the harbour wall where all the cars were washed out to sea including our friend's car with all her Nikon gear in the back. She and her daughter managed to get out of the car sunroof as the floods came down the hill into the Car Park.
There is a 3-4 mile circular walk beyond today's car park that follows the river for maybe a mile before a bridge and then a steep path upwards If anyone had attempted that walk and been caught in the narrow gorge by the river bed I dread to think what his chances of survival would have been.
