That bell looks interesting, but upside down? Is there a reason for that?

The ice cream lovers seated in this quite bare environment, seem to be braving the elements, but their dress and what they are eating, seems to contradict that assumption.

It's an old fog bell at the end of the pier in Dun Laoghaire, used to be a wire cord that you could hang off and make a pretty loud DONNNNNGGGGG but they (probably wisely) removed it :-D

Thanks for that, I searched it online, interesting structure, couldn't find the bell from the maps though; I was on the right pier too.

Thanks for posting this. Dún Laoghaire harbour is one of my favorite places in the world. Lots of good memories there.
