Early Morning, Ormiston Gorge

The sun rises quickly here in the Outback. This image was taken from the Ghost Gum Trail at Ormiston Gorge. The sun was peaking over the rim of the canyon to my right, causing a bit of washout on that side. Photographing in the desert can be frustrating, with lots of contrast and harsh lighting conditions.

This image is another from my previous trip to Australia in 2006.

Great shot, and great memories. I know what you mean about contrast. At near the end of this trail there is a lone gum tree high on a bluff overlooking the pool. I was there as the sun came up to catch the first light on the scene. It still is contrasty. A supra print if my image presently hangs in my dining room. I keep trying to get motivated to print it again on prtra to try to reign the contrast in better.
