It's a fair walk when you're carrying heavy medium format camera kit - about 9 miles return. Walked back in the dark using headtorch - the stars were the best I've ever seen...
Some years since I was last in there Gavin, but hope you didn't get caught by the midgies! I'm going to check this out tomorrow on my desktop as this laptop is playing games with me on the amount of detail in the cliffs, but I'll make sure I get to see all of it as it's a truly iconic and evocative view for me. Oh, and I didn't carry an MF all the way there and back!

No midgies thankfully - photo taken early November
Scans, bah - the original transparency has (as always) more oomph than my feeble scanning efforts. I walked in to Sandwood with my wife who kindly volunteered (!) to carry my Fotoman 617 panoramic - I got an image similar to this I'm really pleased with, but the 617 is well nigh impossible to do justice to in a wee compressed scan so I might not even post it to the APUG gallery. Am moving to the Highlands next month (hurrah), and will probably frame a print of the pano for the wall whenever we get settled in our new home...
