grahamp..darkfield...now there is a term I haven't heard in several years...nothing like a lab rat(me that is) to recall of the fun things we used to do.
 
Thanks for the comments, I am going to print this like this crop and also with a lot of black space around it. The sand is dark, but also the late in the day sunlight was just catching the top of the shell and the shell was in shadow 5 minutes later. Hope to enter it in the APUG conf. print contest.

This is so cool! I love all the texture. Kinda reminds me of pointillist painting.
 
This is an excellent print. I have never seen a dungeness crab shell so abstract as this. Great details. Great eye.
