Thanks! The original negative was a little flat. When I scanned the negative, I underexposed the digital exposure by 1 stop then in post (Adobe Camera Raw) I decreased the midtone exposure, cranked the contrast up and boosted the clarity, texture, and dehaze sliders. The combination of increasing the contrast slider in concert with the clarity slider makes wet surfaces (like the rocks) glisten.
Something you may want to try to increase contrast is what I do. I copy the original edited version and make a new file and paste it in. Then go to adjust curves. There are two add contrast options. I usually select the first one rather than the more intense one. Select all, copy and paste into a new layer on the original edited image then adjust with the fill slider. I find this to be better than using brightness/contrast. Occasionally the curves file is best as is and I can use that one without going back to the original.
