Drei Zinnen /Tre Cime Rollei Infrared 400

For some reason I developed this film nearly a year ago but didn't print any of it. The peaks are backlit so I added a stop to try to compensate. The detail and sharpness surprised me. I was also surprised by the shadow detail. Exposure was hit and miss over the roll; some over, some under.

Very nice image and spectacular scenery! I don't know if you plan on working more on a final print of this shot, but you may want to consider selectively flashing the paper in the upper half to it's threshold, which might bring more tonality/detail to the white clouds and add some density to the towers without having to do too much selective dodging/burning. In Bruce Barnbaum's book "The Art of Photography", he shows an example very similar to yours that he was able to significantly improve with this technique. Cheers!

Thanks. I've never actually tried flashing paper but I might give it a try. I hadn't intended to do any dodging/burning. I'm not very good at it and with so many negatives to print I don't like to get bogged down for an evening on one print. Having said that, it might be something for the Winter which is when I rarely take photographs and have more time for the darkroom.

I made a comment on the thread about Ferrania P30 to the effect that the pics on APUG look so much clearer for want of a better word now we have migrated and here's another example. I can see tonality and detail in both the towers and clouds now whereas on Sat when jimjm made his comment I suspect I'd have agreed.

This pic looks to have everything I'd want without further "manipulation"

Thanks. I was often disappointed with photos I'd uploaded to APUG. They didn't seem a fair reflection of what the photograph actually looked like and that makes it very hard for anybody to suggest possible improvements.

Is it only we three who see this difference? I made comments elsewhere and while some others use words such as clearer it appears that the change for the better we see is not greeted with anything like the "wow" factor I'd have expected based on my experience

I don't know really. I see my prints in my hand -some I think are quite good, some are not so great. I then sc*n them and reduce the size for APUG and they are emasculated!
