Winona Arizona along old Route 66
This photo was taken looking West towards the San Francisco Peaks (12,000 ft) where a major summer storm was gathering. You can see the Peaks are obscurred.
Being a newbie to Medium Format and back to film, any comments or ctritiques are welcome.
Nice shot. Large expanse of sky, the type of bridge and even the truck says its the U.S.A. It is the big outdoors.
The real giveaway though is the small sign near the bridge that says. " Brits, avoid accidents by remembering that we drive on the wrong side of the road here. So leave your blood at the Red Cross, not on the highway"
Well that what Borderick Crawford used to say at the end of Highway Patrol. This reminds me a little of the scenery in that series. Which state was the series shot in?
This was shot East of Flagstaff Arizona. That would be East and just a bit South of the Grand Canyon.
The storm that was brewing dumped a bunch of water into the Canyon causing some severe flooding at the bottom.
I got my geography lesson on America from the Rolling Stones record " Route 66". I liked the Nelson Riddle orchestra theme tune to the series "Route 66" as well but it was Mick Jagger getting "his kicks on route 66" and the line "don't forget Winona" that gave me the knowledge. Edutainment I think they call it.
Your sky is greatand the bridge stands out well in the light. But I do think that you could hold back the land on both sides when printing. The trees and mountains are just too dark for my liking.
