This is a 'crop' of a 4x5 negative that I think works much better as a near square image. It's a dogwood tree that I specifically set out to photograph when its blossoms were in bloom, but I was too late for that. However, I knew the gray values would separate vividly enough that there would be a strong visual foreground 'subject'. I chose this negative from several others I made at the same time for the dynamic rhythm of its lines. As I live with it for a while, I'll decide if I like it well enough to print.

John may I help to inspire you to print it?....I love this type of image where a chaotic scene is mastered by a delicate subject that almost seems to project itself and thus change clutter to clarity and beauty...it takes visual clarity to accomplish this and you do it with sensitivity...

Thanks, Miles. I'm going to devote one day this week to printing if I have to isolate myself with a weapon! (probably a box of donuts I can toss one at a time to the loving child and wife....they like donuts!!)

John - go ahead and print it. It is a fine representation of a northeast forest. I think it would look good up on a wall someplace.

John, I would love to see what you do with the print. When I walk through a mature wood like the one here, I enjoy imagining a graceful ballet underway with all sorts of gestures and interactions changing as I walk in and around the scene. You've captured that feeling nicely here.
