Having a handful of aircraft photos in my own gallery, I can really appreciate this one. Nicely done! Can you tell us more about the subject and circumstances of the photograph? It certainly is eye-catching!
Jim, Ken, and Tony - Thank you for the kind comments. Like many old airports in Arizona, Coolidge Municipal began as an Army Air Corp training base during the 1940's. It is located in a remote part of the desert south and east of metro Phoenix. A company has been working to restore this aging DC-7 to its former luster as a part of fledgling Delta Airlines. I took the photograph as the sun was setting with the hopes of getting a nice blending of shadows in the background and highlights on the engine/wing. I am shooting a series of images of this DC-7. None of which show the entire airframe in a single photograph. More to come...
A very fine aircraft engine profile shot. Gosh, I can recall flying on a few of these old 7's, as well as 3's in the earlier days. Some neat old aircraft history being shared here.....
