Distant Catalina

Distant Catalina

Evening in Palos Verdes facing southward. It was very windy this day and not offering much in the way of contrast. I went for a long exposure to get the misty clouds effect on the water.

This is a negative scan with dodging and burning done in Photoshop.

Somewhere, deep in my subconscious, there is something saying, "Rules of Composition somehow not followed" - but for the life of me, I can't say where.
I do not care. This is an EXCELLENT fine art image. I would not be surprised to see it on the wall of a prestigous Gallery, or in a book of Fine Art images... and I would not mind having on one of the walls in my home.

Good job on the cloud effect on the water. (And congrats on getting it perfectly level, that sharp horizon is totally unforgiving...)

Don't worry about Victor (who makes great images, BTW). I'm sure the wet print looks lovely. You have one, right? The epson version will fade, man. If glicee' is all you've got, make one with metal. I'd recommend silver for this one.

I don't understand why the posters above think this is a digital "epson" print. The comment says its a negative scan. Is APUG not allowing negative scans any more? It was taken with a Koni for Pete's sake....

Very nice picture, btw. I find the rocks in the lower left a little unsettling, as they raise the viewpoint whereas if they were cropped out the viewpoint would drop down to the water level (if that makes sense.)
