Out of the shadows - light. Eye catching. In colour this is a very ordinary gate and a very ordinary field. In colour I suspect even the sunniness would have escaped my attention.

Can't find anything to criticise here. Framing and exposure are spot on and the feeling of light is beautiful.

Thanks for your comments. Tony, I foolishly entered this in a local photographic clubs black and white competition recently. I was told I should have opened the gate first!

Steve.

An atmospheric picture well printed though detail has been lost in most of the shadow areas, difficult with this amount of contrast.
The comment made about the gate being closed was sensible and I feel correct, A closed gate blocks the viewer's gaze somewhat from proceeding further into the scene, an open gate would give the impression of being more inviting, "welcom, come on in" would have been the message.
All in all, a pleasing photo to look at. Well done.

Steve I think your picture of the gate is just great. If you had opened the gate I think you would have ruined this picture and it would have had a totally different feeling.Keep up the good work. John
