I do find the near tree to be taking away from your center of interest... The falls.
I would suggest burning down the bottom (esp. the out of focus leaves near the bottom of the frame) to lessen the impact on the shot... They distract, but darkening might pull them back enough.
I've been to those falls and can testify that can't be done, the path kinks at that point and is fenced in. I had a heck of a time shooting it myself, never got anything good.
what you can't see is an even bigger tree to the left completly blocking the view, and as Gary said, any more to the left and you go over the side and into the water. The leaves at the bottom were a problem. The wind was blowing causing the leaves near the bottom of the falls to shake slightly. I tried to shoot when there was no breeze but it never completly stopped.
