She is a figment of his imagination. An advertising ideas man who was dreaming up a new campaign incoprporating dancing flapper girls from the 20's while getting dressed for his daughters wedding. When he takes a tumble and knocks his head, the idea 'comes to life'.

She gets a surprise . She has only previously been acknowledged when no one else is around. This is the first time he spaeks to her when others are in attendance.

Yes, it is silly, but that is what you get when you see a farce co-written by Chapman and Cooney, two of the biggest of the 60's and 70's British masters of stage farce.
